Devonport ... Oh what a ride..

Hey. man its been a massive year and the last 4 months have been crazy,

I think we have pulled off a world record for franchising. Well it feels like it!

From the day Michelle called braaap showing interest in franchising to open day was 4 months exactly!
We had to go through all franchising legal info.
Source funding.
Recruit staff.
Find a location and then negotiate lease's and apply with council.
We had to do training instore and in an existing braaap store.
we had to fit out the shop and braaap it up!
any way long story short Devonport is kicking BUTT first week of trade has been ridonculous!

Check out a feature the newspaper did on us.

Lesson's Ive learned, A Question I got asked!

I got asked today some of the top lesson's I've learned in building braaap into an award winning business.

This is what i wrote to this young dude who is a budding Young Entrepreneur. Send me your thoughts!

Where are you at with your business/life and where do you want to be?

Number 1 lesson I learned is to have a clear out come. A goal. Know where you want to be!

Number2 lesson I have learned is to find someone who has done what you want to and learn from them. Role model

A thought I often consider is a problem cannot be fixed by the same mind it was created by. To me this means we need to continually surround our selves with the best people.

Number 3 Proximity is power and the people you surround your self with are the people you will become!

Number 4 progress is power, get some momentum, man just start, get out there make mistakes kick ass see what you can do, Michael Jordan missed 9000 shots, he missed 26 game winning shots on the buzzer and he got kicked off his high school basket ball team yet he is regarded as the greatest player of all time. What did he do? He took action, he made Progress! Bounce back bigger better and stronger.

And remember the more successful you become the bigger your problems become! Problems are a sign of life.
I was speaking to one of my best mates, Sam Cawthorn about some of my problems and he said man, I know where there are 1000 people with Not a problem in the world... I asked where? He pointed me to the cemetery! LOL problems are a sign of life!

Lol Live it Up!

What a Ride!

Hey! Thanks again for checking out my Blog, hope it helps paint a picture of what goes on at braaap!
The Last few months have been absolutely crazy! We are loving it! The Frankston store is pumping! Launceston and Hobart chugging along beautifully and we have some new franchisee's opening a store in Devonport! More on this next post!

We have a new website being launched, a full online marketing and braaap campaign!

We are currently recruiting Franchisee's in South Australia, NSW, QLD and Victoria and Tasmania.

Its been awesome, the national and local awards we have won this year have really helped raise our profile and allow us to grow the braaap brand. We have been on the front cover of 3 news papers already in Frankston, And we have only been open 6 weeks!

One of our main focus here at braaap right now is to bring franchisee's in to take over the Launceston and Hobart Stores.

The reason we are franchising out these stores is to ensure the passion for the braaap brand and business and every thing else we do continues to grow. and continues to absolutely pump!
Its proven that an owner operator will run a business 20-30% better than a manager. Of course they will it is their own business. That is why I need to bring in a passionate person or family to take over the Launceston and Hobart stores.

We have some amazing stuff happening with the braaap club and community groups!
We have new tracks ready to be built on the Hobart braaap club track at Cambridge, we also have a whole new complex ready to be built for braaap club at Kingston! This is a massive project which the Police, Council, Youth groups and schools are involved in! We also have New tracks being built at the braaap Launceston complex at Powranna Rd. Along with a whole new braaap Complex to be built at Rocherlea, the Council ,Police, Schools and Youth groups are right behind this!
Our focus is to make sure we keep making the sport bigger and better, weather it be for riding as a family or racing.

The recruitment process for the Launceston and Hobart Stores is under way. Its a tough process, We will not franchise them out to any one, the person or family needs to have Passion! We dont need experience but passion is required!

Keep checking out my blog and wait for the new website!

Why the Owner Operator ???

Hey! Its been a few weeks between posts! Man it is all happening! The adrenaline is flowing, the heart is pumping and the mind is spinning because the all new braaap HQ at Frankston is almost ready to rock and roll! Ill check in later with more details on whats been happening in braaap world!
I just returned home from an awesome night networking with some of the most successful business people in our country! You guy's know I love the old name drop here and there! LOL but I wanted to post up a great topic of conversation that has been coming up not only tonight but over the past few weeks as we have been recruiting and screening potential franchisee's!

Why are we at braaap so focused on building a network of passionate owner operator's? What is the difference between a braaap store with a passionate owner operator and a braaap store with a manager?

Well.... very good question!!! LOL

It is proven that a store with an owner operator, in general will perform 20% better than a store with a manager who is not financially committed to the business. The reason is the owner operator know's that every happy customer she creates or every bike he sell's is a direct benefit to their business.

We want to bring people into the braaap network who have a passion, who share our vision, people who want to be apart of something great! this is an amazing journey and we want to grow as a team!

You as a franchisee are the corner stone of braaap's success and braaap as a franchisor is the corner stone to your success...

Lets get this stuff pumping!

braaap!!!

See ya at the track!!!

Why Franchising?

Hey whats up! thanks for checking out my blog again!

I got asked today by a potential braaap franchisee. Why Franchising?

Motocross has been my passion for ever! Its the sport we have enjoyed as a whole family!
My dream was to help get the sport of mini motocross pumping in Australia!

When i first discovered pitbike racing The sport of mini motocross was (and still is!) absolutely pumping in America! In Australia at the this time people where selling pitbikes. But There was no one doing it properly!

When I first started braaap I had dealer's right across the country! W.A. to QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS ! The dealer's sold a decent number of bikes, the volume was great! But my dream, my passion was and still is! to get the sport pumping in Australia! For this to happen firstly we needed a bike that could hold up to the punishment we put them through, be affordable to every one and equally as important we needed them to be sold through retail stores that shared the same vision! The vision to build something awesome! A pumping sport that the whole family can enjoy! We needed stores that would support the whole mini motocross scene and motorcycle lifestyle! Stacks of spare parts! Mechanics, Tracks, Coaching, Racing and rider development! Education programs! Casual and street clothing! Sticker's, hot ups, All the big brands and everything else! all under the one roof!

Mini motocross as a sport needed a retail support network to drive it forward!
This needed to be Australia wide!
We created the braaap store! Proved the idea worked on a local level! Then repeated the process to prove the 1st store wasn't a fluke!

Remember my passion, My dream was and is to get the sport of mini motocross pumping in Australia! Mini Motocross need's a retail support network Australia wide!

The most successful way to build a successful, tried and tested retail network is franchising!

Enter DC Strategy!
I have been in contact with DC Strategy, The company who i believe is the best growth and franchise company in the Australia! they have worked with, Boost Juice, one of Australia's greatest franchise networks in history! DCS have worked with and built so many successful franchise network's that I would not work with any other company!
I've been taught the fastest and most effective way to learn any thing is to find some one who has done what you want to do, learn from them, do what they do, then do it better!
This is why I was so set on working with only DC strategy! They are the best! When we first contacted DC Strategy 3 or 4 yrs ago they turned braaap away said go and do this and this then come back to us. I did what they asked then they said ok that's excellent now go and do it again with another store! prove it isn't a fluke! We built braaap Hobart and got it pumping! Then they said "OK Brad now prove this business doesn't rely on you!" I employed sales staff and I set out to prove that this business did not rely on me!
To cut a long story short for the past 18 months my self and the braaap team have been working flat out with DC strategy to build the braaap franchise model!

Now we are ready to roll out the network! we are currently recruiting passionate franchisee's to join the braaap team!

No experience necessary, Passion is required!

Bring it on!

Thanks heaps for reading!

What is mini motocross?

Mini motocross is a scaled down version of full size motocross, the braaap bikes we ride are Like a BMX on Steroids and we race tracks that are built specifically for our bikes, its heaps of fun its more intense racing than full sized motocross and far more affordable.
Mini Motocross tracks take all the same obstacles that are on a full sized motocross track (usually about 2km long) and put it all into a jam packed action stacked track usually about 400m long!
Mini motocross started when professional racers in America used to get on their kids mini bikes and play around, it evolved from that into the sport of its own that it is today!

Why Retail..... the braaap store....

When I first started to import the braaap bikes into Australia I was selling them through dealers across the country. Volume was awesome, we were selling a great amount of braaapster's. But my goal was to get the sport pumping! We had a problem that although the dealers were selling decent amounts of bikes they were not passionate about our product, they didn't share our vision to help get mini motocross pumping in Australia. I had to make a massive decision and I decided that if braaap was to be everything I dreamed it would the bikes would need to be sold by passionate people who love what they do. Who wanted to build a sport! A lifestyle!

at the time when i first started bringing the braaap bikes to Australia I was wholesaling to dealers right across the country, they were selling great volume.
but the problem was they weren’t selling them how they needed to be sold, they didn’t have any spare parts, they didn’t promote the racing and build the sport and they didn’t treat the braaap customers how they needed to be treated.
I had a grand plan to build a braaap store, it would be like a surf shop but for motocycles, it would have all the accessories and protective gear, mechanics and spare parts, all the casual gear and cool stuff to go with the braaap lifesetyle and most of all it would be operated by people who loved what they do! I was told it’d never happen, motorbikes and street wear wont sell under the same roof. I had no option but open the braaap store myself. So 3 years ago I cut of all my dealers around the country and decided braaap bikes would be sold strictly from braaap stores only (went from multiple dealers in each state to 1 braaap store in Launceston Tasmania!) THIS IS WHEN BRAAAP LAUNCESTON was born.

Why mini motocross

It no secret that Motocross has always been my passion!
About 6 years ago I was shown some videos from America of a new version of our sport...minimotox or pitbike racing. At the time i was racing 250cc and 450cc bikes. Mini Motocross took everything we do on full size bikes but it was on a shorter tighter track, it was intense! I started watching videos on the internet, I saw that All the professional riders had mini bikes. The crusty demons rode minibikes, my racing idols rode them for fun and in America the sport was pumping! They even had a world championship inside the new Orleans arena at Las Vegas, with 15,000 fans and thousands of dollars up for grabs. The sport got me pumped
For those of you who don’t know what motocross is, it is off road racing, on man made dirt track with jumps, berms and other obstacles. Full size motocross track are usually about 2km long, Mini Motocross racing takes all the obstacles and fun but intensifies it by putting it into an intense track usually about 400m long with jumps up to 70ft. The best way to describe Mini motocross is that its like BMX on Steroids!

Whats Up!

Hey Guys

Sorry its been a long time between post's. Its been a crazy few weeks! It seems like a life time ago we were inside the new orlean's arena at the world Mini Sx titles Las Vegas style, its only been 3 weeks!

We have signed on the dotted line for the brand new and massive braaap HQ in Victoria. The property will be home to the braaap Frankston store, braaap wholesale warehouse and of course head office!

We have a cool area for potential franchisee's to come and talk about the braaap business and the opportunities we have at braaap! Recruiting franchisee's is a massive project as we are so strick on making sure we choose partners to grow with who share the same vision, the same passion and the same excitement we do at braaap!
We are here to create a pumping network!

We are so lucky to have such an awesome team of people to work with. Ive just got home from a staff meeting. They are always fun!
We have started to use MP3 Audio to so we can all grow, instead of reading books we can now listen to the same information in the car on the way to work! We are always looking for new ways to make learning and growing fun! We grow together!

Last weekend was a massive weekend! We had the V8 supercars in town. We set up a trade stall. as usual we had the Pogo sticks on display and they always make the day fly bye! Had a few of the drivers sitting on the bikes and keen as mustard to get into the braaap action! On the same day we had a braaap club race day in Launceston and it was a massive success! Every one had a blast. Thanks heaps to all the club members who put in and helped get it done! And of course we had braaap Hobart and braaap Launceston stores open all weekend as per usual! and to top things off we are were 2 men down! Again this couldnt have happened if the braaap crew were not as passionate as they are! We seriously have an awesome team! We are so lucky as we say. Proximity is Power!

Have you ever experienced a business that has such passionate people?
How about the fact that the braaap staff if they are not working on the weeekend are riding, I love mondays as we get to share our riding stories from the weekend! Who we took riding and talk about the tracks! We call this bench racing! Alot of the fun comes from taking new people riding! getting new riders involved!

Tomorrow we have the team from DC strategy in Melbourne coming over to Hobart for our final induction and training day on franchise recruitment. Im keen as because we are taking them riding at the braaap Hobart track once the office work is done! It's their first time on a bike! they are braaapster riding virgins! I feel a little evil as Ive told them we are heading straight to the supercross track to tackle some jumps! hahaha think the boys are a little worried of my ideas! especially considering its pooring with rain right now!!!hahaha It feels so cool to finally say that our Franchise system is ready to roll! This has been 3 years in the making! We started the first braaap store with the intention to Franchise Australia wide. The reason why we had to create the braaap store concept in the first place is because when I first designed the braaap bike and imported it to Australia I sold them through dealers across the country, Although volume and sales were great My dream was to build a sport, build a culture, build a tribe of pumping mini motocross enthusiasts. We needed passion and we needed the braaap brand to be sold by people who loved what they do and believed in the braaap brand! The dealers were in it for a quick sale and that was it. We needed more so the only option was to buy back all the braaap bikes and roll out a network of stores that would be, the braaap stores! Stores that had a difference, stores that were fun! We needed to be in control of how our sport and our bike and our brand was being retailed! This is when braaap Launceston was born! We started to look into ways to roll out a network of stores across the whole country, If the sport of mini motocross is thrive it needs a support network driven by the retailers! It needs braaap! It needs passion! Oh yeah.... and we love to dream big!!! then turn that dream into action! and then reality1 So enter DC Strategy, I knew we would need the best growth advisor's in the county if this was going to be successful! DC Strategy is the most successful franchise and growth company in the country and Id like to know of any one on the planet who is better! As we say proximity is power. We contacted the guys and shared my vision! To open stores across the whole country! They told me I needed to prove to them it worked... Go and build 2 successful braaap stores, "prove they run with out you Brad and then come see us in a year or so!" In the mean time we had many changes to make, many systems to put in place. And the most exciting learning curve Ive ever been on!
We have been working with DC Strategy for about 12 months focused 100% on building a system and model so the braaap store can be duplicated! Every thing from the passionate people with in to the look of the store to the systems that run the store! After some very big days and nights! Lots of travel! Lots of learning and lots of growing we are ready!

shit ill finish this tomorrow its getn late and I have to go trade the US dollar against the aussie dollar so we can import at better rates!

thanks heaps for reading, I hope you get something out of it! Dream Big! braaaaaaaap

Touring Tasmanian schools in June

Hey Thanks for reading!
Our Tour around Tasmanian schools kicked off at the New Norfolk High this week! We presented in front of 500 kids!

We are traveling around Schools in Tasmania in June and early July, using my story and the story of other extra ordinary young people to reach out to the Students.

I am not a motivational speaker.
My job is to provoke thought and create enough curiosity so you make your own changes. You will find your own leverege to make lasting change!

I have been fortunate enough to study some of the most successful people in the world, from this I have become passionate about the fact that Young people need to be exposed to the principles of life that are often overlooked or forgotten about. Principles that have lasted through the test of time! Principles and Strategies that great people before us have used.

I believe in Australia we have a great academic education system that will set a student up for a JOB. My passion is education for life and we need to see Education for life brought into school curriculum. We need to empower and prepare our young people for a stronger future!

I hope my story can be used to make change!
